Scientist – Systems Integration Engineer

Description

We are seeking a creative engineer with hands-on experience in building laboratory prototypes and integrating instrumentation hardware and software in support of developing novel sensors for a wide range of applications in biotech, industrial biotech, and technology.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate novel concepts and create laboratory prototypes for high throughout experimentation
  • Integrate modules to commercial instruments to expand measurement capabilities
  • Perform troubleshooting and verification testing of measurement systems to ensure requirements are met
  • Develop new sensor technologies for laboratory testing and remote sensing of specific analytes

Qualifications

Essential Experience
  • Ph.D. in engineering, applied physics, or physics
  • Relevant coursework and hands-on experience with biological samples
  • Legally documented to work within the United States
  • Broad knowledge in fundamental engineering principles including:
  • mass and energy transport, fluid mechanics, and thermodynamics
  • Experience with creating and troubleshooting laboratory prototypes
  • Experience in extraction and purification protocols of biological samples for experimentation
  • Experience in using statistical analysis to characterize and improve data reproducibility
  • Knowledge in physical, analytical, colloidal, and interfacial chemistry
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong multitasking skills; comfortable working in a highly dynamic environment
  • Ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams
Desirable Experience
  • Knowledge in motion control, electronics, and automation a plus
  • Knowledge in electrochemistry, fluorescence, and microscopy a plus
